ATLANTA, GA. — Georgia Citizens Defending Freedom (CDF), which filed the first truly encompassing ethics complaints in 2024 against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, reaffirms its continued involvement in the ongoing investigation into Willis’s conduct, following her appearance this week before the Georgia State Senate Investigation Committee.

In early 2024, Georgia CDF filed formal ethics complaints against Willis alleging unethical conduct, conflicts of interest, and willful misconduct in office related to her actions following the 2020 election. These complaints marked the first comprehensive effort to formally hold the Fulton County District Attorney accountable under Georgia’s ethics and accountability frameworks.
On Wednesday, Georgia Elections Director Justin Kelley attended the hearing on behalf of Citizens Defending Freedom as Willis, after being subpoenaed twice, testified before the Georgia State Senate Investigation Committee. The Committee is examining whether Willis’s admitted romantic relationship with her Special Prosecutor, Nathan Wade, improperly influenced her decision to pursue criminal charges against President Donald J. Trump and other Georgia citizens.
The Senate investigation represents a critical step in restoring public trust in Georgia’s legal and electoral institutions. The questions raised extend beyond individual conduct and strike at the heart of prosecutorial integrity, equal application of the law, and the protection of constitutional rights.
Georgia CDF emphasizes that this case is not only of consequence to the State of Georgia, but carries national implications. The use of prosecutorial power in matters involving federal elections, political opponents, and private citizens has implications for the rule of law across the country. Ensuring accountability in this case sets an important precedent for ethical governance nationwide.
Georgia CDF will continue to remain actively engaged as these proceedings advance and will pursue all appropriate avenues to ensure transparency, accountability, and the protection of voting rights. Citizens Defending Freedom remains committed to standing on the front lines of this effort and others like it, holding elected officials to the highest standards of ethical conduct and safeguarding the constitutional liberties of all Americans.
