The SAVE America Act has passed the House and now awaits action in the Senate. The legislation would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections, strengthen voter registration safeguards, and establish nationwide election integrity standards.

KEY POINTS TO SHARE WITH SENATORS

The American people overwhelmingly support stronger election safeguards. According to recent polling, 71% of Americans support the SAVE America Act. Another 85% believe only U.S. citizens should vote in American elections, and that support reaches across party lines

American citizens, and only American citizens, should decide American elections.

Requiring proof of U.S. citizenship before someone is added to the voter rolls helps protect the integrity of our elections and the votes of eligible citizens.

Most Americans already show identification in everyday life to board an airplane, open a bank account, or verify their identity for other important transactions. Requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote is a reasonable safeguard for one of our most fundamental civic responsibilities.

Many nations have already adopted stronger election safeguards than the United States, including voter identification requirements, paper ballots, limits on mail-in voting, and firm ballot receipt deadlines. America should continue strengthening protections that preserve confidence in our constitutional republic.
